
Shweta Tripathi
Managing Trustee / Popular Education and Action Centre (PEACE)
Shweta, currently serving as the Executive Director of SRUTI (since 2014), has been a long-standing ally and supporter of PEACE. Her association with the organisation has evolved over time, marked by a shared commitment to grassroots empowerment and social justice. With over two decades of experience, Shweta has worked extensively on issues related to natural resources, education and governance. She has also worked on documentation of various grassroot initiatives and peoples’ movements on issues of rights over natural resources and socio-economic concerns such as Panchayati Raj institutions, food security and domestic labour.
Shweta has been actively involved in various spheres, including youth leadership development, research, perspective building, capacity enhancement initiatives, and outreach. She has consistently engaged in policy dialogues with government institutions, elected representatives, media, civil society groups, and other key stakeholders on a wide range of grassroots and national issues. Her written work spans topics like land, forests, domestic labour, globalization, gender, and education, and has appeared in platforms such as The Wire, Newslaundry, Down to Earth, Junputh, and Springer. She is particularly interested in research and policy advocacy related to land rights and agrarian reforms within the broader framework of development. In addition, Shweta is a member of Raschakra, a collective through which she performs as a theatrical reader. She enjoys singing and engaging in creative forms of expression, often finding solace in good music and art.
As an advisory member of PEACE, she has provided strategic guidance in shaping the institution’s programmatic and organizational direction in 2022, and later was invited to join the Board of Trustees in 2023. Subsequently, on 19th February 2025, as per Anil Chaudhary’s proposal and acceptance by the Board, Shweta was entrusted with the responsibility of Managing Trustee, further reflecting the confidence reposed in her leadership.
