About PEACE
“Popular Education and Action Centre (PEACE) is a small group of committed and experienced individuals working towards strengthening social action at the grassroots level. PEACE was initiated as a response to the appropriation and superficial use of participatory philosophy within dominant development paradigms, where participation was often reduced to a tool for justifying select programs and schemes.
Soon in its strive to restore and uphold the true essence of participation as a powerful philosophy that empowers people to take control of the processes and structures shaping their lives, PEACE had sculpted its own path beyond the constraints of legacy and began its journey of Questioning on the channel/medium of popular education.
For us, popular education is about equipping the deprived, marginalised, and oppressed with the knowledge and capacity to actively challenge and transform the systems that influence their lives, enabling them to reclaim their power and create meaningful change.”
Today, PEACE seeks to navigate an era of profound socio-political transformation. We are committed to fostering a society where justice, equality, and dignity form the cornerstone of development. Our focus is on reclaiming the principles of participatory democracy by empowering grassroots communities to redefine and reclaim their resources, livelihoods, and agency.
At the heart of our philosophy is the belief that true change stems from collective action and a deep connection to constitutional and human values. PEACE envisions a future where communities work collaboratively to restore balance—between people and nature, tradition and progress, individual and collective well-being. By fostering inclusive, sustainable systems, we aim to inspire organisation working on the grassroots that challenge entrenched power structures and create pathways for transformative social change. Our work is a testament to the power of education, shared understanding, and community-driven action as forces that can reshape the future and reclaim the essence of democracy and justice.
